PHOENIX—Catalyst Commercial Group, a retail commercial real estate advisory firm exclusively serving the national, regional and local space needs of retail and restaurant tenants has entered into an agreement to merge with Keyser to create the largest, multi-platform tenant representation firm in the state of Arizona.

“We are very excited to announce this merger between two powerhouses”, stated Mike Leonard, co-founder and co-managing partner of Catalyst Commercial Group. “With Keyser's cutting edge platform, deep commitment to exclusive tenant representation, exceptional growth trajectory and strong reputation in the marketplace, we saw the real ability to create significant synergies by joining forces to grow a best-in-class global tenant representation firm."

Leonard tells GlobeSt.com that the companies have like-minded philosophies so the merger makes sense. “It was long overdue,” he says.

“Both firms were doing more and more national work—on both sides of the aisle. This gives us an opportunity to provide additional services. There were actually a lot of inherent benefits we didn't even realize at first.” John Keyser, founder, tells GlobeSt.com.

The newly combined entity will operate under the Keyser brand, and anticipates hiring 20 to 25 additional team members over the next 12 – 24 months to accommodate the increasing demand for their services. Leonard and Chris Ray, head of retail devision, will lead Keyser's newly formed retail practice group and will have a seat on Keyser's executive advisory committee. Their focus will be growing Keyser's retail practice group into the most dominant retail tenant representation organization in the country.

“The transition will be seamless as far as day-to-day operations are concerned,” says Ray. “But we will have much more bandwidth—more technology, more resources and there is strength in numbers. We will also be utilizing the best practices of both firms. It's not easy to find like-minded companies, but we had a synergy. Now we are more collaborative and more powerful”

Keyser says the company's goal is to become a Fortune 500 company firm through service and that their focus will be on building relationships.

“Our mission is, 'We succeed by helping others succeed.' We call this selfless service and it's a different way to do business—the new way,” says Keyser.

And the company is planning for significant growth. They are focused on hiring 20 brokers at present, totaling 30 by the end of the year and 50 by 2015.

“Because of our company culture, we need a well-balanced broker. To hit the numbers we want to hit, we need the right people and the challenge is finding those individuals who are wired the way we want to do business—selfless service,” says Keyser. “It's an exhaustive vetting process.

“We were already the best in class and now we're more than just the sum of our parts.”
