HERMOSA BEACH, CA—Bolour Associates and hospitality management company Provenance Hotels has named HKS Hill Glazier Studio as the architect of its beachfront boutique hotel development in Hermosa Beach, CA. Once complete, the property will be operated by Provenance Hotels.
“We're committed to creating something that uniquely reflects the lifestyle and values of Hermosa Beach,” says Bashar Wali, president and principal of Provenance Hotels. “HKS Hill Glazier designs hotels that are environmentally sustainable, and we're confident their design will connect people with Hermosa's natural scenic beauty and laid back vibe.” In addition to building environmentally friendly properties, the architecture firm has won several hospitality design awards.
Although little is known about the hotel design, the hotel will be located on Pier Avenue and overlook the beach town's iconic volleyball courts. The lot will offer guests direct beach access and onsite restaurants. Most importantly, the developers want the design to capture “the essence of Hermosa's beach lifestyle.” According to Mark Bolour, CEO and principal of Bolour Associates, “HKS Hill Glazier Studio understands that buildings represent a community. They create spaces that respect a natural site's characteristics. We're excited to be collaborating our efforts with HKS Hill Glazier and forward-thinking community leaders, business owners, and proud residents who are dedicated to a beach-friendly Hermosa.”
The property was first announced last summer when Bolour Associates purchased the parcel of land, which then hosted several bars and restaurants, for $19.5 million. At the time, the developer announced that project would begin in 2015 with completion expected for sometime in 2016. Around the same time, another development group, Raju Chhabria, Rhuai Khosla and Dave Iler, started construction on a 30-room boutique, beachfront hotel in Hermosa Beach called the Clash. That hotel is scheduled for completion in 2015.
