CHICAGO—Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices has just added the suburban Prudential Prairie Path, Realtors®, to its network, making it just the latest small brokerage to start doing business under one of the most respected corporate brands in the US. The Irvine, CA-based Berkshire Hathaway now spans 37 states and includes more than 28,000 agents and 750 offices.

“This was a chance to become part of a company that I knew was run by the best minds in real estate,” Mickey Muisenga, broker and owner of Prairie Path, Realtors®, tells GlobeSt.com. “I was able to peek into their technology package and their marketing package and it's extraordinary.”

As of April 17, Muisenga's Elmhurst-based company began operating as Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Prairie Path, Realtors®. In addition to gaining access to Berkshire's technology platform and marketing support, Prairie Path brokers can also access ongoing business consultation and professional education.

“We believe our new brand will be warmly embraced by real estate consumers,” Muisenga adds. “Likewise, top agents will understand the potential of a brand whose namesake is Berkshire Hathaway – the world's most respected company according to Barron's – and will want to represent it.”

Muizenga also says that small companies like his, which has about 20 agents, will increasingly make way for the big brand names like Berkshire. “I think the Mom-and-Pop independent brokers will be falling by the wayside.”
