LOS ANGELES—CBRE has named Lew Horne president of greater Los Angeles and Orange County, GlobeSt.com reports exclusively. Horne previously served as executive managing director, based in the firm's newly renovated Downtown Los Angeles headquarters. Horne will continue to work from the Downtown office in this new position.
“This is a recognition from CBRE of the L.A. and Orange County marketplace,” Horne tells GlobeSt.com, adding that CBRE is also promoting other leaders, one on the East Coast and another in the Southeast region. This is an emphasis on the importance of leadership in these key markets. L.A. and Orange County is a global, gateway city for us. This is one of the most important industrial markets in the world and certainly one of the most significant office and capital markets.”
In this new position, Horne will continue to lead eight offices and 1,200 employees in the Southern California region. He was instrumental in implementing and developing the Workplace 360 model in the Downtown office, an open, free-address office space. Now, 25 CBRE offices nationwide have adopted the new office model, and many more around the world.
Although Horne has been promoted, he will carry out very similar responsibilities, and no one will replace his previous position as executive managing director. “My primary focus is making sure that I make sure that we have the right talent and, essentially, a big part of my job is making sure that I am supportive of all of the people who are leading these important business units and geographic areas,” says Horne. “I like to think of my organizational chart as an upside down chart where I am supporting them so that they can support our professionals, who can, in turn, support our clients.”
Horne has led the region as executive managing director since 2007. In his greater career at CBRE, he has won several leadership awards, including Manager Innovation Award and Manager of the Year Award.
