QUEENS, NY—The World-Wide Group has reached two milestones on its 21-story, 421-unit multifamily development in the Long Island City section of Queens, an area that's having something of a renaissance.

The building, at Queens Plaza North and 24th street, will be called QLIC “to celebrate the flourishing Long Island City neighborhood,” according to World-Wide. Additionally, aptsandlofts.com has been selected as the project's exclusive leasing agent.

World-Wide's project is in keeping with LIC's emergence in the wake of a great deal of development in the area, director of development Rachel Loeb tells GlobeSt.com. “Since 2012 or 2013, there's been a series of rental, hotel and for sale development around the greater Long Island City market, all the way from Hunters Point to Queens Plaza. We're one of the larger multifamily projects that are underway.

“LIC is so lacking in retail services for those living or staying at the hotels there,” she continues, “so the more development that occurs there, the better. As density increases, retail services will follow and that will make the area even more appealing than it already is for residents and visitors.”

QLIC will provide over 25,000 square feet of amenities, including a rooftop outdoor pool with a landscaped deck that overlooks the Manhattan skyline, a fitness center, private gardens, indoor parking and bike room. In addition, QLIC residents are steps away from a variety of retail, dining, art and cultural destinations and eight subway lines are available within a five block radius. The building's entrance is adjacent to Long Island City's highly-used bike path to Manhattan.

World-Wide selected apartmentsandlofts.com for its extensive knowledge of the area; both for the developers benefit and for the sake of tenants, says David Lowenfeld, EVP.

“When World-Wide began looking for a firm to lease QLIC, we sought a team that—while familiar with the area's market trends – would also enhance our residents' experience by offering an in-depth understanding of Long Island City and its multifaceted character and appeal. Aptsandlofts.com perfectly fits this mold, and its team will add great value to both the World-Wide Group and QLIC's residents.

Adds David Maundrell, president of aptsandlofts.com, “QLIC will meet the demands of many of our clients who are seeking apartments that feature the full conveniences and services of Manhattan living, particularly top-of-the-line amenity packages and ample living space. Plus, residents can commute home from Manhattan on the subway in less than five minutes, leaving enough time to hop in the building's pool for a leisurely swim or get in a workout at the fitness center.”
