CHICAGO—Mason Awtry started Rightsize Facility Performance in 2004 as a decommissioning company, shutting down facilities after corporate moves. As recently reported in GlobeSt.com, ten years later the company also helps business people that have no expertise in design remake their office spaces.

Awtry has been growing the firm and also has ambitions to significantly expand its regional footprint. The company now employs more than 80 people and has just added another three to its ranks.

“We are in serious growth mode,” says Awtry. “Since the end of 2013, we have added ten professionals to our team and expect to add the same amount by mid-year.”

RFP employs people from a wide variety of disciplines. It operates a 200,000-square-foot showroom at 5000 W. Roosevelt Rd. in Chicago, a design studio and sales office in River North, and provides workstations, desks, seating, file cabinets, conference and reception furniture, as well as continuing to take on decommissions, furniture buybacks and deliveries.

Heather Martin, for example, joins as the firm's new merchandise manager, team leader, with the Office Furniture Center brand. She will spearhead the firm's product offerings, showroom appearance, inside sales department and eventually the company's e-commerce business. Most recently, she was the product development manager at Arhaus, a national residential furniture company, where she handled the turnaround of underperforming showrooms as well as new product development and showroom merchandising. Martin has bachelor's degree in interior design from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh.

And Vanessa Courtney will work as an account manager in the firm's downtown office. She will manage the design and furnish process for clients making office transitions and make sure products get delivered and installed on time. Courtney has ten years of furniture sales experience at Ethan Allen and Restoration Hardware, and was most recently a territory design account manager at Ebanista, Inc. She graduated from the Harrington College of Design.

Finally, Shane Miller has rejoined RFP as controller. Miller ran the firm's accounting and administrative groups from 2009 until 2011 and will manage the internal accounting and administrative teams and work with the firm's CPA and banking partners. He was most recently the finance director at Chicago Midway International Airport.
