ALEXANDRIA, VA—The Blackstone Group, which is looking to redevelop 13 acres of its 20-ace Oakville Triangle industrial park, has retained StonebridgeCarras of Bethesda to head the redevelopment initiative at the site, which fronts Jefferson Davis Highway between Potomac Yard and Del Ray.

Meanwhile Alexandria is intent on redeveloping the area with the first meeting of its nine-member community advisory group scheduled for today. The Del Ray Citizens Association says that Blackstone is proposing as much as 1.5 million square feet of retail and residential development as well as a possible hotel at the site on the western side of Route 1, according to the Washington Business Journal.

“StonebridgeCarras has been discussing with city staff and the community, including the DRCA, a project that would have a retail focus, with shops and restaurants along Route 1 as well as the central east-west street through the project, Swann Avenue,” states Bill Hendrickson, president of the citizens association. “The conceptual design shows a finger park on Swann that would continue the design of the finger park on the east side on Route 1 in the Potomac Yard development.” See story in the Washington Business Journal.
