FORT WORTH–Whole Foods Market will enter the local area for the first time with a 45,000-square-foot store. The natural and organic grocer will locate within the Waterside, a 63-acre, master-planned mixed-use development going up on the former Lockheed Martin Recreation Association site.
“We are thrilled to bring Whole Foods Market to Fort Worth,” said Trademark CEO Terry Montesi, in a release. “There is no retailer more in demand in our hometown than Whole Foods Market and it's the perfect fit for our development. Waterside, the first place of its kind, will take the retail/mixed-use experience to a new level.”
In addition to the Whole Foods, Waterside will contain 185,000 square feet of retail space and restaurants, 20-30 acres of multifamily properties, up to 200,000 square feet of office space and a signature hotel.
Construction on the entire project is expected to begin this fall with the first phase coming online by fall of 2015. The Whole Foods location will open in the Spring of 2016.
The entire Waterside project is being developed by Trademark Property Co. It is the company's first 'Conscious Place,' a next-generation sustainable development model. The plans call for a place of commerce, community and meaning, with amenities that will both engage guests and bring people together around wellness.
As part of this Conscious Place, Waterside will have interactive displays, a community pavilion, as well as The Grove, which is an outdoor meeting space that will include adult and children play areas, outdoor patios, restaurants and micro-restaurants similar to food trucks.
