LAS VEGAS-GlobeSt.com Thought Leader BH Properties has been racking up a number of retail acquisitions this year, building on a successful 2013.

As executive vice president Steve Jaffe told West Coast editor Natalie Dolce in a recent interview: “The buying history of BH Properties has always been in the distressed part of the market.  We typically look for undermanaged assets that require patient capital to turn the properties around. Our platform encourages us to seek these types of assets—cash flow is always important to us, but it's not required.”

In this exclusive video interview, Jaffe builds on that thought and discusses what's been happening since that interview took place and the drivers of this growth and the changes taking place in the retail market.

  • How the Mom-and-Pop shop is fairing in these days after the recession; and (2:13)
  • How the traditional strip center differs from the Community Center. (9:19)
