HONOLULU—Hawaiian Electric Co. has begun rolling out a smart-grid program in five different areas on Oahu. Hawaii's largest utility says it plans to implement technologies to improve service, provide customers with more choices and integrate more renewable energy, the head of the utility said. This according to a report in Pacific Business News.
Dick Rosenblum, president and CEO of Hawaiian Electric, a subsidiary of Hawaiian Electric Industries Inc., told shareholders last week, that the utility had started its smart-grid program.
In March, Hawaiian Electric announced that it would soon begin installing smart-grid technologies for 5,200 customers on Oahu as part of its grid modernization efforts.
