HOUSTON–Fountain Residential Partners has broken ground on Campus Vue. The 465-bed, off-campus housing community is located near the University of Houston at Calhoun and N. MacGregor. The total construction cost was not disclosed.

The 5-story project is a redevelopment of Beall Village apartment homes and will keep one existing building in place in order to reduce the displacement of residents. Campus Vue will offer one-, two- and four-bedroom units; all of which will include keyless entry into the building and units, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, wood-look flooring, and 50" flat screen televisions with DVR's in the living areas. Other amenities include all utilities, wireless internet, parking garage, luxury pool, fitness room and study rooms as well as a lounge on the 5th floor, which will overlook the University of Houston campus.

Construction on the community will complete in August 2015, just in time for the Fall 2015 semester.

Campus Vue will help answer a need for additional student housing around the University of Houston campus, which has traditionally been considered a commuter school.

“The school has achieved Tier One status and has continued to grow an impressive student body from all over the world,” Trevor Tollett, vice president at Fountain Residential Partners, tells GlobeSt.com. University of Houston has around 8,000 students living on campus, and that is without any requirement for any students, even freshman, to live on campus.”

Centerpoint Builders is the general contractor for the project while Grand Campus Living will handle both leasing and management.

Campus Vue is Fountain's second project in the area. As GlobeSt.com reported, the company is also in the midst of building Vue on MacGregor. The off-campus housing community is already 100% pre-leased for Fall 2015. Amenities include fully furnished units, study rooms, fitness center, pool area, tanning bed, lounge, indoor/outdoor convertible party deck on the 5th floor and onsite parking.

“University of Houston is shattering the conception of being a commuter school, and our success at Vue on MacGregor is clearly evident of that,” Tollett says. “Currently there are only certain places near campus that make sense for these kinds of developments, and we think we have the two best sites in the market.”

Earlier this month, Fountain also broke ground on a 499-bed, off-campus luxury development in Bozeman, MT. As GlobeSt.com reported, Stadium View apartment homes will serve students from Montana State University and be ready for occupancy by the fall 2015 semester.

Fountain currently has nine walk-to-campus locations under construction.
