Online Tech Developing Indy Data Center

INDIANAPOLIS—The company has five data centers and is expanding across the Great Lakes region.

INDIANAPOLIS—Secure cloud computing services are a requirement for many businesses, and officials from an Ann-Arbor, MI-based provider say the city of Indianapolis is underserved in that respect, and they plan to bring in the needed computing infrastructure by September. Online Tech purchased an existing data center at 505 W. Merrill St. near the Colts stadium in downtown Indianapolis from Midcontinent Independent System Operator, Inc., an energy company, and plans to upgrade the electrical systems along with other technical enhancements.

The facility will deliver the company’s secure, compliant cloud and colocation services for healthcare, financial services, retail and other companies in regulated industries. Online Tech will make a $10 million investment in the property, which includes the purchase price and planned upgrades.
