WESTLAKE VILLAGE, CA—Westlake Plaza, a 280,993-square-foot shopping center in Westlake Village, CA, has completed lease transactions with six new retail tenants for a total of 13,079 square feet of space. The leases come while the plaza is in the midst of a $25-million renovation of the property exterior, which includes new architectural elements and pathways, signage and landscaping.
Pitfire Pizza signed the largest of the six leases at 3,260 square feet, while Mendocino Farms, a sandwich market chain signed a 3,000-square-foot lease for its eighth Southern California location. The remaining tenants are Le Pain Quotidien, Pressed Juicery, the Ice Cream Lab and Firefly, who signed leases for ranging from 900 to 2,225 square feet. RKF president Robert Cohen, EVP Rachel Rosenberg and director Kristin McCann are leading the leasing efforts for the property.
According to Cohen, Regency Centers, Westlake Plaza's owner, is part of a growing group of owners remodeling shopping centers to include a more diverse risk of shopping and dining option, which has become increasingly popular as the economy rebounds. The $25-million renovation currently underway reaffirms the center's standing as the cornerstone of the neighborhood. RKF was not able to provide additional commentary before the publication of this story.
RKF is also leading the leasing efforts at Faring Capital's 17,595-square-foot mixed-use property on Melrose Ave. The brokerage firm is similarly targeting interesting, one-of-a-kind tenants for the space, but this time with a lifestyle and fashion appeal—which is popular in the area.
