CINCINNATI—The Port of Greater Cincinnati Development Authority has begun planning and site development for its $80 million MidPointe Crossing mixed-use development, located at the intersection of Seymour Ave. and Reading Rd. in Cincinnati's Bond Hill neighborhood.

The authority has selected Cassidy Turley, a real estate services provider, to lead land sales efforts for the development. Senior vice president Scott Abernethy and associate Joshua Smitherman will handle office land sales, and vice president Andrew Sellet and associate Terry Ohnmeis will handle retail land sales.

The 25-acre development site includes a potential mix of institutional, office, retail, grocery, hotel and residential with ample parking. The site was occupied by Swifton Commons, the region's first shopping mall, but the mid-century structure was demolished in December 2013.

“We are pleased that the Port Authority selected Cassidy Turley to market this significant project,” said Abernethy, in a prepared statement. The firm's officials will not be available for further comment until later in the week, but GlobeSt.com will post an update. “The momentum of the Seymour/Reading corridor continues to build due to more than $270 million in public and private investments, including new homes and schools, recreational facilities and religious institutions.”

As the master developer, the Port Authority will direct all efforts to market the site and in the first phase will also create up to 500,000-square-feet of office and retail.

“MidPointe Crossing is Cincinnati's next great office and retail location,” said Laura N. Brunner, Port Authority president and chief executive officer. “The Port Authority and City of Cincinnati have teamed on making a significant investment in this location that complements all of the other momentum nearby. We now expect the market will respond favorably, because there are only a handful of development-ready city sites of this caliber.”
