SANTA FE, NM–La Posada de Santa Fe has become New Mexico's first Luxury Collection hotel. Luxury Collection is a group of 86 luxury hotels and resorts that are part of the Starwood brand.
"Each Luxury Collection hotel is a singular reflection of its place in the world and its place in history, and La Posada de Santa Fe perfectly represents those values, having played a major role in the evolution of Santa Fe as an art community and a tourist destination," says Joseph Smith, founder of 1754 Properties, which owns the hotel.
The hotel was initially a mansion built by Abraham Staab in 1882 as a way of welcoming friends and families to this Southwestern outpost. Smith says the Staabs had a reputation for elegant hospitality – a tradition that continues in the hotel to this day.
“We're certain that by joining The Luxury Collection, La Posada de Santa Fe will be able to reach a broader audience of sophisticated travelers who will not only appreciate the authentic and original experiences that make this hotel and destination so special, but also the resort's lush, six acre campus, luxurious spa and award-winning restaurant and bar,” Smith says.
La Posada de Santa Fe includes 158 guest rooms, including adobe casitas and guest rooms in the French Second Empire-style Staab mansion.
“Santa Fe's charm as a tourist destination and a top five arts destination in the US, is due in no small part to its one-of-a kind hotels,” said Peter Ives, mayor pro tem, city of Santa Fe. “By bringing one of the most influential brands in hospitality to Santa Fe, La Posada is once again helping to further distinguish our city as a premier southwestern destination. I could not be more pleased to welcome the Luxury Collection of hotels to Santa Fe.”
