WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ−Ron Ladell, the senior vice-president of AvalonBay Communities has been honored by the Monmouth University Kislak Real Estate Institute with its Leadership Excellence award.
The award is conferred annually for “distinctive contributions to the state of New Jersey and the nation through a career in real estate.” Over 530 people attended the event here last Thursday evening. Assemblyman John McKeon introduced Ladell.
Ladell oversees AvalonBay's development activities throughout New Jersey. The company owns and operates 18 residential communities with more than 6,400 apartments and is currently building communities in Wharton, Roseland, Bloomfield and Princeton.
In the last few years, AvalonBay opened communities in Somerset, Bloomingdale, Wood-Ridge, Hackensack, North Bergen, West Long Branch, Tinton Falls, Lyndhurst and Lawrenceville and has purchased communities located in East Rutherford, Plainsboro and Watchung.
Ladell is a member of the NJ Apartment Association's board and a founding member of NJ Mixed-Use Developers (an affiliate of the NJ Builder's Association) and serves on the Real Estate Forum editorial advisory board.
Ladell was recently honored as Humanitarian of the Year by The Center for Great Expectations and also serves on its board. The center assists adult women and their children through homelessness, pregnancy and addiction recovery.
He is a graduate of Rutgers University School of Law-Newark and Rutgers University in New Brunswick and an instructor for the NJ Redevelopment Authority, a guest lecturer at the Wharton School (MBA), University of Pennsylvania, Cornell University, Rutgers School of Law and Rutgers' Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy.
In addition, at the awards dinner, Caren Franzini received the Service to the Industry Award for her “tireless work” at the Economic Development Authority for 18 years. The award is given occasionally to an individual or group that has provided exceptional service and support to the real estate industry.
