SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ−Bussel Realty Corp. has arranged to fill 20,150 square feet of industrial space here with snacks – or more precisely, with the goods of snack-maker Pepperidge Farm.
The Connecticut-based producer of fresh bakery products, cookies, crackers, and frozen foods will use the space at 1764 New Durham Road for warehouse distribution and also set up a retail store.
The deal brings the 125,000-square-foot property to 100% occupancy. Earl Lapides of BRC was responsible for the transaction and represented the owner, BBD Partners. Jason Barton of Cassidy Turley represented Pepperidge Farm.
“The building's great visibility to roadway traffic is ideal for the bakery brand's newest outlet,” Lapides said.
The 125,000-square-foot facility has 17-foot ceilings, 2500 amps power and 285 parking spaces. It is set close to I-287, providing access to the New Jersey Turnpike, Garden State Parkway, and Route 1 and 440.
Pepperidge Farm was founded in Connecticut in 1937 by Margaret Rudkin, a homemaker who began by baking fresh, all-natural bread for her allergy-afflicted son. The nationwide business now has nine manufacturing facilities and almost 5,000 employees. It has been part of Campbell Soup Company since 1961.
