NEW YORK CITY—Jedd Nero has joined Avison Young as a principal and executive managing director of New York City retail. In his new role, he is leading the growth of the firm's retail services platform.

Nero has representing both landlords and tenants in retail transactions for over 25 years. Prior to joining Avison Young, he was an EVP in the global retail services group at CBRE. He held the same title at Newmark New Spectrum Retail previously. CBRE did not respond to requests by GlobeSt.com for comment by press time. Watch for an UPDATE with comments from Nero.

Reportedly, Nero has played a key role in shaping the retail landscape of Fifth Avenue, where he most recently represented Western Management at 589 Fifth Ave. in signing a milestone deal with H&M for 57,000 square feet. The transaction created the largest H&M store in the world to date, providing H&M with six floors of retail space and creating the brand's US flagship store.

In years past, Nero has placed Hugo Boss, H&M, Morellato and Sector, Lenscrafters, Kenneth Cole and Best Buy on the Avenue as well.??As a tenant representative, his business includes multiple local and national transactions for Diesel, Miss Sixty, Salvatore Ferragamo, Fila and Verizon Wireless. He has extensive experience in securing flagship stores for tenants including Paul and Shark and Missoni along Madison Avenue's “Gold Coast”, Kenneth Cole at Rockefeller Center and Hugo Boss.?

He recently completed an 110,000-square-foot deal that put Chrysler at 629-641 W. 54th St. This is not Nero's foray into automotive retail; he also represented Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. in the purchase of a 265,000-square-foot building on Eleventh avenue, between 55th and 56th streets. The space, purchased for $84 million, has undergone a $41 million renovation, and serves as the flagship Manhattan showrooms for Audi and Volkswagen.??

In addition, Nero has served as leasing agent for numerous property owners, including the Moinian Group, Muss Development, Western Management, Douglaston Development, Gallery Partners, Mitsui Fudosan, Northwood Development, Starwood, Silverstein Properties and Cohen Brothers Realty Corp.??
