NEW YORK CITY—The complex pre-ULURP process just became a little easier for building developers. Applications no longer will need to be completely perfect before going through the seven-month review process, according to Crain's New York Business.
The Department of City Planning, now under the director of Carl Weisbrod, is allowing projects to be certified when they are complete rather than waiting until the agency is onboard with every facet of the effort, says chair Carl Weisbrod. In addition, DCP is making other changes to shorten the time needed to get to certification, such as adding staff, establishing clearer standards and expectations and creating metrics to track how fast the agency moves projects along.
David Giancola has joined Cassidy Turley's capital markets team as SVP. Previously with West-River Capital, he began his commercial real estate career in 2003 at Heitman LLC where he closed more than $750 million of transactions across all property types. He also worked at DTZ Rockwood and was principal of G&G Sterling.
RKF has been named the exclusive leasing agent for a four-floor, 28,207-square-foot space at 1604 Broadway, in the heart of Times Square. The former restaurant and nightclub space, situated between 48th and 49th streets, consists of 1,814 square feet on the ground floor, 7,201 square feet on the second floor, 7,253 square feet on the third floor, 4,912 square feet on the fourth floor and 7,027 square feet on the rooftop. The space includes 50 feet of frontage on Broadway with prominent signage opportunities. The RKF leasing team of Robert K. Futterman, chairman & CEO and Joshua Strauss, EVP, is representing the owner, Torchlight Investors.
We hear that the Hotel Carter, at 250 W. 43rd St., has been sold for $180 million. Eastdil Secured reportedly handling the sale. Watch this space for a possible update on the trade of this Times Square property.
