AUSTIN–Berkadia Commercial Mortgage has hired Lloyd Griffin to serve as vice president in the company's Austin office. The 18-year industry expert will be responsible for originating structured financing opportunities and arranging joint venture equity partnerships.

“For nearly two decades, Lloyd has developed relationships with a number of different equity providers, lenders and developers, which will be incredibility helpful as we seek both new projects and the best financing solutions for our clients,” says Brant Smith, senior vice president and branch manager. “Lloyd joining the Austin team further deepens our industry expertise, market knowledge and mortgage banking capabilities, particularly in Texas.”

Prior to joining Berkadia, Griffin worked as a regional director at Citi Community Capital. In the five years he held that role he originate dna closed more than $800 million in construction and permanent loans, tax exempt bonds, credit enhancements, private placements and low-income housing tax credit equity placements.

Before Citi Community Capital, Griffin was vice president of the affordable housing group at GMAC Commercial Mortgage, Berkadia's predecessor company.

“I am eager to rejoin the Berkadia family and leverage my past experiences in order to strengthen the company's mortgage banking platform,” Griffin says in a statement.
