ST. LOUIS—The Building Owners and Managers Association International has just given an Outstanding Building of the Year award to Delmar Gardens in suburban Chesterfield, the first time in 18 years that the honor has gone to a St. Louis-area property.

Cassidy Turley leases and manages the property, which won in the suburban low-rise office park category. The awards are the highest level of recognition from BOMA.

Delmar Gardens competed against buildings in five other regions, including entries from Miami, San Diego and Indianapolis. Located on eight acres of green space and common ground, it includes two 60,000-square-foot, three-story class A office and medical facilities. Building I contains the corporate offices of Delmar Gardens Enterprises and Morgan Stanley, while Building II houses a surgery center, orthopedic center and a variety of medical offices, including physical therapy, ENT and plastic surgery.

"The buildings have become a landmark in the community due to their unique design, prominent visibility and accessibility,” says Gabe Grossberg, president and chief executive officer of Delmar Gardens. “As a company, we are honored to have our headquarters in Chesterfield. We've established our roots in this community, hosting job fairs, participating in conservation efforts and supporting many cultural and charity events. We are committed to the long-term growth of this region.”

In order to advance to the international competition, finalists have to win the TOBY award on both the local and regional levels first. Regionally, Delmar Gardens competed against buildings from 11 cities including St. Louis, Kansas City, Denver, Minneapolis, St. Paul, Milwaukee and Omaha, NE.

Delmar Gardens plans to deliver Delmar Gardens III to the market in 2015. The developers plan to get a LEED certification for the 125,000-square-foot, five-story class A office and medical building which will contain a fitness center, dining facilities, and a large open plaza with extensive water features, exterior lounge areas and a commissioned sculpture.

“We're proud to be associated with such quality buildings and ownership,” says Dean Mueller, Cassidy Turley managing principal. “We've partnered with Delmar Gardens for 15 years now, helping them find land and assisting with pre-leasing, leasing and building management. We look forward to continued success with our partnership.”
