PHILADELPHIA-In efforts to step up its tech and media game, CBRE Group has chosen its local office here to form a Technology & Media Practice(TMP). Rija Beares who has been with the firm since 2002 and serves as a senior associate, was chosen to lead the group here.
It is important for CBRE to start such a practice because it is serving so many technology firms, she tells GlobeSt.com. "In the past 10 to 15 years, tech innovation has been going superspeed throughout industries," she says, adding that CBRE will now be able to offer clients "factual-based knowledge."
She also points out that buildings are more efficient and automated than ever. In turn, buildings are able to serve their functions more efficiently.
"It's nice to have the power of all of these resources working together now, so that we're able to feed them information about themselves," she says of landlords. "You're going to see some really good white and reports come out."
Beares was chosen for the job because of many technology initiatives she has taken on over the years, according to the firm. Those include her involvement in Tech Girlz, which tries to get girls interested in tech at a younger age, as well as a $300,000 Kickstarter campaign, which raised money for the children's book "Hello Ruby," which teaches programming fundamentals.
