CHICAGO—Tucker Development, a fund manager and developer of shopping centers and mixed-use properties based in suburban Chicago, has just hired Andrew White to serve as the company's new director of leasing. The company expects that the 20-year veteran of the retail real estate industry will help it expand its footprint of retail and mixed-use properties throughout the Chicago and New York metro areas.

Most recently, White served as senior vice president of Avison Young's Chicago-based retail advisory and services group, servicing a group of corporate, private and institutional owners and tenants in the region. Before that, as director of redevelopment for Phillips Edison and Co., White repurposed and leased about 200,000-square-feet of big-box retail space nationwide.

“Andy possesses the extensive industry knowledge and proven track record in the retail leasing space to support our retail development platform,” says Richard Tucker, president and chief executive officer of Tucker Development. “As we continue to explore new opportunities for mixed-use development in target markets, Andy's expertise will be instrumental in identifying the right retail tenants for our diverse range of projects.”

White has also held senior positions in several commercial real estate services firms, including CBRE, Heritage Property Investment Trust and Centro Properties.

“I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to join a team with such a sterling reputation for consistently delivering high-quality retail development,” says White. “I look forward to leveraging my network and expertise, and I'm eager to work with Tucker's talented development team both in the Midwest and on the East Coast to continue to create dynamic retail and mixed-use spaces.”

Tucker has already begun developing Hudson Lights, a one-million-square-foot, mixed-use redevelopment located at the entrance to the George Washington Bridge in Fort Lee, NJ. Phase I will feature about 143,000-square-feet of retail space and 276 luxury apartments.
