PLAYA VISTA, CA—KB Homes strategically focuses on coastal, land-constrained regions for residential development, according to Craig LeMessurier, KB Homes senior director of communications. In an earlier story, GlobeSt.com reported that KB Homes unveiled two new communities in Playa Vista, the Asher, a community with 36 three-story, detached homes, and the Skylar, a 93-unit condominium complex.
KB Homes has been targeting the Playa Vista submarket because of the demand for new housing. “KB Home has been successfully transitioning our California footprint to stronger coastal locations,” LeMessurier tells GlobeSt.com. “The company has a strong pipeline of new communities that have recently opened, or are slated to open later this year, in coastal markets from the Bay Area to Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego. These land-constrained areas, like Playa Vista, are close to employment centers where demand for new housing outweighs supply.”
As reported earlier, this was not KB Homes first venture in the Playa Vista market. KB Homes' earlier LEED-certified Primera Terra development was very successful, selling out in 2012. “We understand that buyers are attracted to this incredible location,” says LeMessurier. “Playa Vista is one of the Westside's most desirable zip codes and is already home to more than 6,500 L.A. residents. Playa Vista has become one of the crown jewels of Los Angeles' westside and we are very pleased to be a part of its next evolution.” He also notes the importance of creating a community in the area, not just building homes. Both of these developments offer ample amenities that attract buyers, like swimming pools, fitness centers, parks and outdoor areas.
To meet the diverse demand in the submarket, KB Homes built both detached single-family homes and a multifamily condominium complex. “Our two communities provide a unique opportunity for buyers to own either a new luxury single-family home or a condominium home in a well-established community where existing inventory levels are low,” says LeMessurier. The modern communities are also LEED-Platinum certified with smart planning, energy efficiency and water conservation systems
