AUSTIN–As GlobeSt.com reported earlier, locally-based Oden Hughes has started a new property management division, which will be lead by Stephani Park. The industry veteran shared her thoughts on the expansion, her new role and the local market.

GlobeSt.com:Why is now a good time for Oden Hughes to start a property management division?

Stephani Park: Oden Hughes has grown tremendously in the last few years, as has its need for high quality property management that adds value for its investors and provides first-class service to residents in its growing portfolio of properties.

At the same time, the class A apartment market has gotten very competitive in major Texas cities and a lot of high-end property owners want more customized service and individual attention from senior level managers.

GlobeSt.com: What is your first order of business in this new role?

Park: My top priority right now is to hire a strong team of experienced property managers that share our commitment to quality and exceptional customer service.

GlobeSt.com: What is the key to great property management?

Park: It really comes down to trust and creating a sense of community. Great property managers are professional, customer oriented and dedicated to fostering a pleasant and welcoming environment in which people want to live. They are also very responsive to the needs of residents and property owners and able to act quickly and decisively when issues arise.

GlobeSt.com: Are you looking at any specific types of multifamily properties?

Park: Oden Hughes Management focuses exclusively on class A communities of the highest quality in major Texas markets. We're looking for property owners who see the value of providing exceptional customer service and are looking for a smaller, well-qualified management company that's able to easily adjust to the unique needs of each property.

GlobeSt.com: What major Texas market are you looking at with interest today?

Park: Oden Hughes Management will focus on the same markets as the company's development and construction divisions: Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio.
