WASHINGTON, DC—A little more than a month after it cancelled a bid solicitation for massive infrastructure work at the St. Elizabeths campus, the District of Columbia has issued new bids for the project.

The request for proposals for infrastructure work at the 170-acre property calls for the winning contractor to oversee demolition and the installation of new utilities, roads, stormwater, sewer, gas, electrical and telecom systems, security fencing, landscaping and intelligent transportation systems, according to the Washington Business Journal.

The infrastructure component of the St. Elizabeths campus is expected to cost more than $50 million. The solicitation timeline calls for work to be completed 990 calendar days following a notice to proceed is issued.

Once the infrastructure work is completed, the planned redevelopment of the campus could then proceed. Five teams have bid to become the St. Elizabeths master developer. The first phase of construction is expected to include about 1.6 million square feet of mixed-use development. See story in the Washington Business Journal.
