PHOENIX—X Team International announces that partner Velocity Retail Group has completed a lease with At Home for a 104,967-square-foot At Home retail store in Tempe. The new At Home concept is owned and operated by Garden Ridge. Velocity Retail Group executive vice president Darren Pitts made the announcement.
A décor superstore that provides selections of patio furniture, wall décor, and decorative accents, rugs and housewares, At Home retail store recently opened at the Arizona Mills shopping center, located at the northeast corner of Baseline Road and Interstate 10.
“There is an existing store at the 60 and Greenfield Road,” Pitts tells GlobeSt.com. “But Garden Ridge wanted to serve Tempe, Chandler and Ahwatukee. The new location at the 60 and I-10 has that ability to reach those customers—it's a super-regional draw.”
Pitts says finding such a large space on the I-10 was not an easy task. “Over the past 10 years, only three big box spaces have been available directly on the I-10,” says Pitts. The location was originally a JC Penney Home Store. “This exciting as well because it is the first At Home store that wasn't a converted Garden Ridge location.”
Pitts negotiated the three-year lease on behalf of At Home. He also represented At Home for location in the Phoenix area in 2012, which was the first expansion location for the retailer in the western United States.
The landlord, Simon Property Group, was represented by Todd Folger of CBRE.
