LOS ANGELES—Former JLL veteran Michael Prabhu has joined Cushman & Wakefield's investor services team as the US head of property management, GlobeSt.com reports exclusively. Prabhu brings 20 years of experience to the firm, and will be based in the firm's Los Angeles office.

“When you look at how you can do things better, it always starts with leadership,” Shawn Mobley, Cushman & Wakefield's US leader of investor services, tells GlobeSt.com. “In the spring, we began to look for a new head of property management who had a strong client orientation and who works well across different disciplines. We were incredibly fortunate to find everything we were looking for in Michael.”

Prabhu joins Cushman & Wakefield from JLL, where he served as the head of property management in the western region. His impressive 20-year-long resume includes positions at Maguire Partners and Heitman Properties as well. Cushman offers growth opportunities that made the position appealing, but Prabhu was ultimately attracted to the company's rare culture. “There are very few firms with Cushman & Wakefield's culture and level of excellence,” he tells GlobeSt.com. “I was intrigued by the opportunity to expand my role and to join a group of individuals that have the same culture, philosophy and belief system that I do, which is that we are in an industry that is about servicing our client's requirements, and we have to do it right.”

In this new role, Prabhu will oversee Cushman's property management business nationally. “Historically, Cushman & Wakefield has been a leader in property management,” he explains. “This is really about defining the opportunity to work very closely with the other investment service businesses and getting them to work cohesively as a group, and to bring more opportunities to the firm.”

Prabhu's hire is part of Cushman & Wakefield's ongoing expansion. In March of this year, the firm launched the investment services team. “Our goal is to get closer and better aligned with our clients and their needs, so we put together our capital markets, property leasing and our agency leasing platforms together under the investor services framework,” says Mobley. “It is really about bringing multidisciplinary talents together and to see how they can work together better. This is a period of immense growth for us at Cushman & Wakefield. That is what Michael has done in the past, and that is what we are doing in investment services and in the company as a whole.”
