BOULDER, CO—Gunbarrel, a employment center on the eastern edge of the City of Boulder, will soon be home to Apex 5510, a 231-unit, smoke-free apartment community. Owned and developed by Crossbeam Concierge, in partnership with Trammell Crow Residential, Apex is scheduled to deliver its first apartment homes by October of this year.

“Gunbarrel has been the employment driver of Boulder for years, affording dynamic companies a great office environment with a Boulder address and sweeping views of the Front Range,” explains Brad Blash, co-founder and managing partner of Crossbeam Concierge. “The challenge for Gunbarrel has been that over 8,000 employees have been forced to commute to their jobs there on a daily basis.”

Gunbarrel is home to some of Boulder County's largest employers, such as IBM, Crispin Porter + Bugusky, Qualcomm and Celestial Seasonings, but employees had few, if any, living options and had to drive to work, according to Crossbeam Concierge. “With the Apex 5510 development in Gunbarrel, the people who work here now have the option of living in a quality apartment community.”

Apex is being constructed to LEED environmental standards and will feature a running and biking trail through the center of the community with connectivity to the Boulder/Longmont trail system. “Boulder is about getting outside and staying healthy,” notes Blash. “We worked closely with the City of Boulder to integrate our community as an essential link to the IBM trail connection.”

The one mile trail connection has been a priority for the city and county for over two decades providing an essential connection and access to over 300 miles of trails and over 35,000 acres of open space. This proposed trail provides a key east-west regional connection as part of the Longmont-to-Boulder (LOBO) trails system. will connect the existing Cottontail Trail on the east side of Highway 119 (Diagonal Highway) to the existing Boulder Reservoir trail system on the west side of 63rd Street. The proposed trail would be about one mile in length, and would provide a regional trail connection between the Gunbarrel area and Boulder Reservoir. “You can lace up your shoes or get on your bike and be in Boulders pristine open space and mountain parks in minutes.”

In addition to the open space connectivity, residents of Apex can walk to work and will have access to an increasing number of retail and dining options close-by that will provide them with an ideal live-work balance.
