PHILADELPHIA—The developers of the W and Element Hotels tower here are scheduled to present their designs to the Center City Residents Association this week. The plans call for the hotels to have a combined 755 rooms.

An attorney representing the developer told planning and development website PlanPhilly.com that there will be 295 rooms in the W Hotel, and 460 rooms in the extended-stay Element by Westin. The entire hotel tower will be managed by hotelier Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide of Stamford, CT. The session with the Center City Residents Association is information-only since the project does not require variances and can be built as of right, according to The Inquirer.

The project, being developed by Brook Lenfest, will also include more than 1,700 square feet of retail space on the ground floor at the corner of 15th and Chestnut.

Last year, the Philadelphia City Council approved a $33-million tax increment financing package for the project. Construction is expected to be completed in three years, with the hotels scheduled to open in the fall of 2017. See story in The Inquirer.
