LOS ANGELES—At the age of 61, Joshua Walter Leonard, a senior partner at Deloitte and a pioneer in Los Angeles' leasing advisory platform, passed away peacefully at Cedars-Sinai Hospital after battling lymphatic cancer. Leonard is survived by his wife, Linda, his mother, Bertha, and his siblings, Barney and Rachel, and his colleagues, clients and those he taught and mentored will miss him.
Leonard made a significant contribution to the commercial real estate industry, establishing and leading the leasing advisory practice for Deloitte for 17 years. In that time, he developed lease audit techniques for corporate tenants, and he authored and ran a copyrighted lease auditing training program, which was offered throughout the country. Leonard began his storied career at Price Waterhouse and Getty Oil, which eventually led to senior management positions with Maguire Thomas Partners, Leasehold Technology Group and Grubb and Ellis.
Born in Philadelphia, Leonard earned a Bachelor of Science in public accounting at Ithaca College in 1975 and received his CPA license in 1977. Following in his father and grandfather's footsteps, he dedicated his career to public finance and accounting. In his personal life, Josh was an avid squash player, golfer and dedicated husband to his wife Linda.
