SYDNEY, Australia—Sydney-based Crown Group has fielded a record number of inquiries for a new tower set to become an architectural centerpiece in the city.

More than 5,000 inquiries from around the globe have been submitted for developer's new $250-million residential and commercial tower to be built at 161 Clarence Street. Registrations of interest opened in March.

Crown Group CEO Iwan Sunito said the number of inquires had already surpassed each of Crown Group's prior project launches.
