DC Councilman Looks to Help Revive Pennsylvania Ave. Corridor

WASHINGTON, DC—DC Councilman Jack Evans is expected to introduce legislation today that would create the District Pennsylvania Avenue Development Corp. to ensure “suitable development, maintenance, and use of the vital area of local, as well as federal, importance.”

The newly created entity is a reincarnation of the long defunct Congressionally-chartered Pennsylvania Avenue Development Corp. The new entity, however, would have the District be responsible for oversight and its finances. The bill calls for the establishment of the Pennsylvania Avenue Development Fund, to consist of appropriations, gifts and donations, and other revenue sources, according to the Washington Business Journal.
