HOUSTON—Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star, the largest Big Brothers Big Sisters agency in the world, has purchased a site near downtown Houston for its new headquarters. The site, totaling 23,505 square feet, is located at Washington and Franklin at the entrance to the central business district.

Randy Hopper, senior vice president with the Houston office of The Weitzman Group, handled negotiations for Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star. Hopper worked nearly two years to identify the right property for the new headquarters.

“We first considered buying an existing building to considering a renovation project to finally identifying the ideal site at Washington and Franklin,” he said. “The land is located at the V where Washington and Franklin merge and turn into Washington going into downtown. The site has an existing building which will be demolished for this new headquarters project.”

Pierce Bush is executive vice president of Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star and oversees the Houston market for the agency.

“I can't say enough good things about all the great work that Randy Hopper and The Weitzman Group contributed to this project," Bush said. "Ultimately, they helped us secure the right property that will enable Big Brothers Big Sisters to double the number of at-risk Houston kids that we serve going forward. 1003 Washington Ave is at the perfect Houston intersection of the kids that we serve and the ideal volunteer demographic we need to constantly engage with to serve more of them. Randy is a stand-up guy to work with and he was very helpful throughout this whole process.”

Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star currently operates out of a building in the Sharpstown area of southwest Houston. Their existing building already has been sold to a neighboring building for expansion.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star serves more than 9,500 children in 100 counties in Texas.
