WAYNE, NJ—Food distribution firm Driscoll Foods is shifting operations currently in Clifton to a new distribution facility it will build at the former Bayer Healthcare campus here.

Driscoll now occupies a 217,139-square-foot building at 174 Delawanna Ave. in Clifton, but has outgrown that facility, according to Tim Driscoll, the company's owner. Armed with up to $18.5 million in tax credits from the state Economic Development Authority's Grow New Jersey program, the company will be building a new approximately 400,000-square-foot distribution complex and headquarters at 6 West Belt Parkway, according to The Record.

In connection with the move, Driscoll is expected to create 139 jobs and retain 215 jobs that were at risk of leaving the state.

Driscoll estimates it will take 18 months to two years for the facility to be built and for the food company to take occupancy of the new space. Driscoll Foods engaged in a 1031 exchange with Stro Cos. of Ridgewood, NJ, trading ownership of the Clifton and Wayne properties, according to CoStar. See story in The Record.
