MEDIA, PA—Zommick McMahon Commercial Real Estate has been named exclusive retail agent for Middletown Commons, a 176 acre mixed use development on the former Franklin Mint site in Media, PA. Middletown Commons will be developed by the McKee Group and its partners and will include 300,000 square feet of office/retail space, 350 homes and a 150 room hotel.
There are various units available for lease ranging from 1,500 to 150,000 square feet. The 300,000 square foot office component could be redeveloped for big box retail, with 30+ acres of zoned commercial space, two fully signalized intersections, and out-parcel pads available.
Located just off Baltimore Pike and Route 452, Middletown Commons sits directly in the heart of one of Delaware County's busiest residential and commercial corridors. In addition to offering easy commuter access to Philadelphia, Middletown Commons is centrally located near some of the region's biggest employers, including Wawa, Main Line Health and Penn State Delaware County. In addition, SEPTA regional rail is moving forward with its plan to extend its current Media/Elwyn line directly to a Wawa station at Middletown Commons.
“Middletown Commons provides retailers with a unique opportunity to have a presence in one of the most densely populated areas of Delaware County,” says Ryan McMahon, president of Zommick McMahon. “The site's premier location, demographics and strong employment base make it ideal for regional and national retailers, financial institutions and restaurants requiring a presence in one of the strongest suburban markets on the east coast.”
The site was once the home of the Franklin Mint building and museum, which was closed in 2004. Since then, the developer has secured all necessary zoning approvals for Middletown Commons, and will begin construction in early 2016.
“The owners of Middletown Commons have successfully navigated through the many obstacles that come with a mixed use project of this scale and retailers are responding positively. After years of waiting, the site now offers a unique opportunity for national retailers to work with a very large open canvas and operate in an underserved market ripe for more modern shopping and dining amenities,” says Matt DiGiulio, vice president of Zommick McMahon. “We've already received initial interest from national grocery stores, hotels, restaurants, and several financial institutions looking to capitalize on the infrastructure and transit oriented development this site now offers.”
