CHICAGO—The Opus Group has just hired Joe Taylor as its new director of real estate development at Opus Development Company, LLC's Chicago office. In his new role, Taylor will oversee new residential and student housing developments in the Chicago and greater Midwest markets.

“Joe has extensive market knowledge, proven talent and is well-respected by his peers,” says Sean Spellman, vice president and general manager of Opus Development. “He is a valuable addition to the Chicago team and we're thrilled to have him on board.”

He joins the Minneapolis-based company just as it launches projects in several sectors across the US. As reported in GlobeSt.com, it has about $500 million worth of projects underway. Recent completions include VÉLO, one of several boutique luxury apartment projects that have recently sprouted in downtown Minneapolis. The new complex includes 101 residential apartments and 12,000-square-feet of mixed-use retail space.

Taylor has more than a decade of experience in real estate development and acquisitions. His previous experience includes building apartments for Equity Residential and Glenmark Partners in New York City and the JBG Companies in Washington DC. Taylor has developed more than 2,000 housing units in his career.

“I'm excited to dive into my new role with Opus,” says Taylor. “There are many great residential opportunities in the Midwest and I look forward to bringing my expertise in this sector to the team and creating value for the company.”
