PHOENIX—The Phoenix office of Jones Lang LaSalle has hired local broker Chris Latvaaho as vice president in its Phoenix office leasing group. Latvaaho joins the existing JLL team of managing director John Bonnell and vice president Brett Abramson, who specialize in agency representation for existing and ground-up developments, and both institutional and entrepreneurial landlords.

Prior to Joining JLL, Latvaaho served for 14 years as an associate director in the Phoenix office of a national commercial real estate brokerage firm. In that time, he completed more than 500 lease and sale transactions, particularly in the core business of leasing and investment sales, and with a strong emphasis on owner representation. Latvaaho started his career with Heitman Properties in Minneapolis, where he was responsible for managing a large office investment portfolio for institutional clients.

Latvaaho tells GlobeSt.com how his experience has shaped his ability to establish himself effectively in his new position:

“I was fortunate to start my career with a third-party management and leasing company. This trained me to view assets from the owner's perspective, to think in terms of an overall business plan and to make sure I was doing deals that supported the long-term integrity and value of an asset. I take that same approach when I work with owner clients today. It was programmed in me during the early infancy of my career, and it stuck. I'm also thankful to have been able to spend the last 13 years focusing on the Phoenix market. It has allowed me to learn the dynamics of the Valley, not just in one area but through many different building types and locations across the metropolitan marketplace. It paved the way for what I do today, which is to connect the right owner with their perfect submarket, and then to be able to promote those assets to just the right people.

Latvaaho has some goals for his new position. “Number one is to become a valued member of John and Brett's office agency leasing team, and to help them grow business with best-in-class service,” says Latvaaho. “I want people to know us, to know that we are set apart because of our knowledge, service and results. There are a lot of trades going on today with a lot of new investors coming into town, so there is a tremendous opportunity to exceed the expectations of existing clients while also attracting new clients to JLL. This is also a critical time for our existing owner clients. As the office market rebounds, these owners are looking to us for guidance on where to position rental rates and how to balance their tenant rosters to take full advantage of the coming upswing and to create real value for their asset. Finally, I'm always working to sharpen my skill sets and improve as an individual and a broker, to be as well rounded as I can be.”

Latvaaho earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. He is a member of NAIOP.
