NEW YORK CITY—Capital One Financial Corp. has hired Greg Steele as managing director in Capital One Securities Inc. Steele will be responsible for growing Capital One's real estate investment banking practice, leveraging Capital One's existing commercial real estate banking platform and extensive client relationships. His focus will be on REITs nationwide across all major property types.
“We are very pleased Greg has joined our team,” says Peter Chow, SVP and head of CRE institutional specialties for Capital One Bank. “Greg's expertise, his emphasis on building relationships, and his proven transaction leadership will be a tremendous advantage as we deepen and expand our investment banking coverage.”
Chow emphasizes that Steele is a team player, underscoring Steele's comfort with cross-selling across the investment and corporate banking product spectrum as well as his transaction experience in the debt and equity capital markets.
Prior to joining Capital One, Steele was managing director, real estate, at BMO Capital Markets, the investment and corporate banking subsidiary of Bank of Montreal. While at BMO, he played a key role in building a successful banking franchise focused on REITs, private equity funds, and real estate operating and service companies.
“Capital One is strongly committed to its commercial real estate clients, and our investment banking capabilities will strengthen our already powerful real estate platform,” says Steele. “I'm looking forward to drawing on the experience I've gained over the last 20 years to help build this business.”
