ATASEHIR, Istanbul—US architectural firm Roy Higgs International has been retained to design the retail portion of Metropol Istanbul, a global mixed-use project and architectural landmark of Istanbul that is rising within the borders of the Istanbul International Financial Center in Atasehir.

“Metropol Istanbul will breathe new life into this vibrant city, elevating its architectural significance,” stated Elif Ozbay, design manager for Metropol Istanbul. “We selected Roy to design the retail center as a result of his extensive international experience as a master planner and designer, and his impactful work on industry-changing projects in Istanbul and around the world. We're confident that his retail design will integrate seamlessly with Metropol Istanbul's mix of superior residential apartments, offices, world-class shopping and international dining facilities.”

Metropol Istanbul is one of the largest mixed-use properties in Turkey, constructed on 100,000 square meters (1 million square feet) of premium land, the Metropol Tower—one of the tallest structures in Europe—and luxury residential with more than 1,200 apartments. In addition, the retail development will feature three stories of exclusive retail, with a 400-meter (4,000-foot) long rooftop retail street, an international health spa and a 16-theater cinema. The total construction area exceeds 700,000 square meters (approximately 7 million square feet).
