LOS ANGELES—BH Properties has hired Andrew Van Tuyle to the position of chief acquisition officer in the firm's Los Angeles office. In this new role, Van Tuyle will oversee property and debt acquisitions across property types in the southwest region. This is not Van Tuyle's first time working with BH Properties. He formerly spent two years serving as the firm's director of acquisitions.

According to BH Properties EVP and general counsel Steve Jaffe, Van Tuyle will help the company move toward its acquisition goals and augment the company's investment portfolio. During Van Tuyle's time as director of acquisitions, he closed nearly 2,000 multifamily units in Arizona. BH Properties has been growing its industrial presence as well in Arizona. The company recently purchased the Shasta Beverages warehouse facility in an all-cash transaction that closed in 18 days.

Prior to joining BH Properties, Van Tuyle served as the chief operations officer at the real estate investment firm Standard Management. In his 15-year career, he has worked in the multifamily, retail, industrial and office sectors, completing transactions in 20 states. He has a special expertise in multifamily and shopping center real estate. He belongs to industry associations, including Institute of Real Estate Management, International Council of Shopping Centers and Urban Land Institute. Van Tuyle was unable to comment on the promotion prior to the publication of this story.
