VENTURA, CA—Marcus & Millichap has opened its eighth Southern California sales office in Ventura, CA. First VP and regional manager Adam Christofferson and sales manager James Markel will oversee the new office, along with a brokerage team that includes Gary Cohen, Brian Johnson, Parker Shaw and James DeBuiser.

A 25-year industry veteran, Cohn will serve in the office as the director of the firm's national office and industrial properties group, along with DeBuiser, who will serve as agent candidate of the group. Johnson will serve as the senior associate of the national multi-housing group, along with Shaw, who is serving as an associate in the group. “Our entire team is enthusiastic about the opportunity to add value to clients in the region by leveraging our firm's investment specialization, financing capabilities, industry-leading research, innovative technology and extensive management support,” says Christofferson. The office is located at 1000 Town Center Drive in Ventura. The team was unavailable for comment about the new location.

In addition to brokerage services, Marcus & Millichap also provides relevant research for the market. The latest report, which was released earlier this month, shows that the medical office building sector saw an across-the-board sales velocity increase of 15% year over year for the first nine months of 2014; however, not all MOB products are created equal. The divergence in this asset class—favoring newer product—is likely to intensify as current healthcare trends accelerate.
