RONKONKOMA, NY—Carson Optical Inc. has sold its facility in Hauppauge and purchased the former DHL sorting facility here that will double the firm's presence on Long Island.

The sale and purchase deals were announced by Richard Cohen, president of Ashlind Properties, who arranged both transactions on behalf of Carson Optical. The firm, a manufacturer of microscopes, telescopes, magnifiers and other optical equipment, paid $4.5 million for the 50,800-square-foot building at 2070 Fifth Ave. in Ronkonkoma. The company was assisted by the Islip Industrial Development Agency in the purchase. Cohen was the sole broker on that deal.

Carson Optical recently moved into the new facility due to a need for additional warehouse space and room for its expanding engineering department, according to Cohen. The seller was SVF New York!, an investment fund.

Carson Optical sold its former 25,000-square-foot building at 35 Gilpin Ave. in Hauppauge, for $2.4 million, to the Jobin Organization in a deal assisted by the Suffolk County Industrial Development Agency. Jason Miller of Premier Commercial Real Estate represented Jobin, a contractor that specializes in roofing, glazing and metal wall panels.
