LOS ANGELES—At the California Club in Downtown Los Angeles, 850 industry leaders from top firms gather to ring in the season at the annual Allen Matkins holiday party. While mingling in the crowded room, guests sipped cocktails and Champagne and dined on holiday favorites, like shrimp and prime rib, between talking business and trading business cards.
