NEW YORK CITY—Cushman & Wakefield has tapped Gene Spiegelman, vice chairman, as head of the firm's North America retail services group. He replaces Matt Winn, formerly executive managing director, who left the firm to join Olshan Properties.

Since joining the firm nearly 15 years ago, Spiegelman has consistently ranked among the firm's top producers and has made material contributions to the growth and success of retail services. His knowledge of retail site selection, development, leasing and negotiating business terms have distinguished him in the industry, according to Cushman.

Spiegelman also has taken a leadership role in the firm's global retail expansion initiatives. Over the years, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to globalize the business. Spiegelman has partnered with retailers such Crate & Barrel, Millennium Partners, Century 21 Department Stores, Zeckendorf Development and CH Carolina Herrera.

As the head of North America retail services, Gene will partner with John Strachan, global head of retail; Mark Burlton, global head of cross border retail; Justin Taylor, who has recently been named head of retail services for Europe, and James Hawkey, head of Asia retail services. Together, this team will work closely to ensure our retail professionals continue to dominate the sector globally and continue to provide creative real estate solutions to drive meaningful value to our clients.

Spiegelman is a two-time winner (2008 and 2001) of the Real Estate Board of New York's Retail Deal of the Year award for representing Gucci in its lease to Diesel at 685 Fifth Ave. and Crate & Barrel in a 48,000 square foot lease at 611 Broadway. This year, he led a global team in representing Millennium Tower/Burnham Building in Boston's famed Downtown Crossing. The landmark transaction marked the most significant retail deal in modern-day Boston history.
