WASHINGTON, DC—Developers Forest City and PN Hoffman are working on plans to build a new condo building as part of their The Yards mixed-use development in the Navy Yard neighborhood here.

The 10-story Yards Condos building would total 130 units and occupy the current site housing the Trapeze School. The 130 condos would range from studios to two-bedrooms. The building, will also feature a rooftop lounge, outdoor kitchen and other amenities, according to the Washington Post.

PN Hoffman and Forest City are now in the process of acquiring the site from the General Services Administration and are working on architectural plans with the D.C. Historic Preservation Office, according to Julie Chase, spokeswoman for PN Hoffman.

The developers are expected to submit plans to district officials within the next few months. If all approvals are secured, ground could be broken on the condo project in the fourth quarter of 2015.

“Over the years, I've received many questions and comments from residents and real estate agents about their hope for new condos,” says David Garber, an Area Neighborhood Commission 6D commissioner. “Now that the area is more established with places to eat, shop, and play, and with a new public elementary school opening next fall, many people see this as a place to invest and put down roots.” See story in the Washington Post.
