CHICAGO—Baird & Warner has just named Jennifer Alter Warden to its newly created position of chief operating officer. In addition, Laura Ellis will take over Warden's previous position as president of the brokerage's residential sales division. The locally-owned independent company has nearly 1,800 broker associates in 25 offices and provides comprehensive mortgage financing and title insurance services.

"Jennifer and Laura have proven time and time again that they are invaluable assets to Baird & Warner," says Steve Baird, president and chief executive officer of the Chicago-based Baird & Warner. "Their leadership skills and industry expertise will allow us to continue to grow and bring superior tools and services to our broker associates and their clients."

Alter Warden will work with the presidents of the company's three divisions -- residential sales, key mortgage services and title services – and continue to serve on its executive committee. In addition, company officials say she will help shape their corporate culture, something they take pride in. Baird & Warner was named the No. 1 workplace in Chicagoland by the Chicago Tribune in 2014, they point out, earning its third consecutive award.

With Baird & Warner since 1995, Alter Warden was responsible for launching the company's home services, e-business and title operations. In 2002, she also created its Good Will Network, a charitable initiative, and will continue to oversee the program. To date, the effort has donated nearly $2 million to dozens of nonprofits.

Prior to assuming responsibility for the company's residential sales, Ellis she served as Baird & Warner's senior vice president of sales where she oversaw the operation of all branch offices. Ellis also helped create the Baird & Warner Leadership Institute, a training program that teaches leadership and business skills to broker associates, and prepares them for management positions.

Ellis joined Baird & Warner in 1998 as sales manager of the Bolingbrook office. During her eight years as manager, the office consistently broke records in production, recruiting, mortgage and title, company officials say. And in 2006, Ellis was brought to the corporate office to serve as director of sales operations.
