Happy New Year, and welcome back to the Executive Watch in 2015!
Yesterday I read a fascinating article in the Wall Street Journal about the expanding use of body cameras, wearable devices that are much smaller than a matchbox and can record every move and conversation for hours. The UK police pioneered the use of these devices, and now US police forces are following suit.
What got my attention, however, is a more interesting utilization of micro-camera technology in the private sector. For example, to help avert a scurrilous lawsuit that might be inflicted on a plumber, electrician, or home-appliance repairman.
So why are we focusing on this in Executive Watch? Think about the broader application for commercial and residential real estate. Imagine using this technology as a training tool for young brokers who can watch the “old masters” do their thing. Imagine reviewing the performance of onsite apartment leasing agents.
Take 10 minutes and write down 10 business applications for your new Body Cam. You'll be surprised.
