MINNEAPOLIS—United Properties has just promoted Eva Stevens, its executive vice president of asset management, to executive vice president and chief operating officer, effective immediately. A 14-year veteran of the firm, Stevens will now oversee all aspects of the Minneapolis-based company's operations and administration, including accounting, financial and capital planning and asset management. In addition, she will help the company's senior leadership develop overall strategy.

The company also promoted Eric Skalland to vice president and chief accounting officer. Both promotions are part of the transition of responsibilities from Paul Hawkins, executive vice president and chief financial officer, who will retire from UP in June 2015.

It's an auspicious time to assume these responsibilities. The Twin Cities' economy and its real estate market have really begun to soar. And UP has played a significant role in this revival by launching a number of major projects. As reported in GlobeSt.com, for example, last September UP closed on the land acquisition for its Red Rock Industrial Building, a 320,000-square-foot speculative project in suburban Maple Grove. And in the city's hot North Loop neighborhood, UP plans to develop Target Field Station Center, a class A building on the remaining land parcel next to Target Field Station, the transportation hub next to Target Field.

“Eva and Eric have been important leaders in the continuing evolution of United Properties,” says Frank Dutke, the company's president. “We are very pleased to recognize their contributions and look forward to their continued leadership.”

Stevens joined UP in 2001 as vice president of asset management, and was named to the executive team in 2005. She also worked in asset management as well as property and operations management at Colonnade Properties and Northco. Before entering the commercial real estate industry, Stevens was a financial manager of Ellerbe, Inc. and began her career as an accountant at Coopers & Lybrand.
