NEW YORK CITY—Manatt, Phelps & Phillips has added attorney Andrew Schultz to the firm's real estate and land use practice as a partner. He comes to Manatt from Debevoise & Plimpton.

Schultz has more than 20 years of experience in real estate law, including sales, acquisitions, financings, leasing, joint ventures and real estate investment funds. His multifaceted practice focuses on developing, financing and acquiring office buildings, multifamily projects, shopping centers, mixed-use developments and warehouses on behalf of private equity funds, insurance companies, public agencies, developers, commercial banks and pension fund managers. He also has extensive experience with public/private partnerships.

“Andy's sophisticated breadth of experience in real estate transactions further strengthens Manatt's capabilities in New York and beyond,” says Tom Muller, co-chair of the firm's real estate and land use practice. “Andy is a well-respected lawyer, trusted by his clients and highly regarded by colleagues. He is a terrific addition to the practice, and we are fortunate to have him with us.”

On behalf of pension funds and private equity funds, Schultz regularly handles joint venture development of buildings throughout the East Coast, as well as acquisitions and dispositions of Class A office buildings and multifamily projects. In recent years, he has devoted substantial time to representing the private sector operator of two public/private retail developments in Lower Manhattan and has worked with the owner of a midtown trophy property in leasing up the building. Schultz also has represented commercial lenders in construction loans and permanent loans.

“Manatt's entrepreneurial spirit, coupled with its national footprint and deep expertise across multiple industries, particularly in the real estate sector, makes the firm an ideal place for my practice,” adds Schultz. “The team is business-savvy, connected and focused on providing excellent client service. I look forward to working with my new colleagues across the country.”
